The idea for Dawnmir.com was inspired by a cousin who had amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye, in which his parents discovered when he was seven years old. It was unfortunately discovered too late and caused him to go blind in one eye.

Some guidelines for the test

Signs and symptoms of amblyopia include:

-Poor depth perception and peripheral vision
-Repeated eye closure or squinting
-Squinting
-Eyes that don’t move in the same direction when the child is trying to focus.
-A persistent head turn or head tilt
-Persistent shaking of the eyes
-Misalignment of the eyes, or strabismus

Dawnmir.com simply relies on signs and symptoms of strabismus to help parents make appropriate decisions early. If parents notice anything odd with their child’s eyes, especially the signs of strabismus, they should visit an eye doctor as soon as possible.
These tests have no diagnostic value. Only your optometrist can give a proper diagnostic. No personal health information is collected or retained as the result of taking these tests.

Instructions:

1-Look at your child’s eyes to see if they have one of the types of strabismus below

2-Pencil Pushups: Using a finger, pen, pencil etc. as a target. Let your child focus on the tip of the target and slowly bring it in toward the child’s nose, look at your child’s eyes to see if they have one of the types of strabismus above.

If you answered yes to one of the questions above, your child may have lazy eye. A comprehensive exam, performed by an optometrist is required.
